How about a shared topic on RPG Nostalgia? Something along of the lines of your first love in the rpg universe, possibly even mmorpg universe.

For me it harkens back to the days when I first discovered MUD's. I could actually play a game and interact with other people outside of my own home. It was amazing to me and so varied. MUD's were the dreamchildren of individuals, and since they are individuals each MUD had it's own flavor.

I would also add my initial rpg experiences such as Nethack or even console based games like Phantasy Star 3.. (awesome game). I would love to hear how other people fell in love with the genre. I think it would be a great topic to share because it expresses our individuality as well as our community in gaming. (we are all different but the same)

What do you think?

I totally agree...most of us come to the gaming world in different ways. I'll post my reply to this topic next week and put the link here. Good topic.

I don't think I could get away with doing another nostalgia post quite so soon. :(

My last one was quite recent:

The Feelin's Gone

Although it only really harkened back to the days just immediately prior to my first MMO love. My first RPG love? Quest for Glory series. SHUT UP, Yes it WAS a real RPG....... Sort of. Ok ok, I grant you, it was more adventure really.. But it had classes and stats and stuff, and it was what gained my attention and interest into that style of game at all. :)

Now THAT is a hard question. I missed out on QFG 2 until after 5 came out -- that's when I got the collector's edition that included it. So... I'd have to say 3 -- the thief solution to save the tribespeople was just awesomely fun. However, once I discovered 2, I was in love. ^^

*ahem* Sorry to derail the topic with our QFG lust btw.

Ok, now it's my turn to fall over. QFG2 was my favourite of them all as well, even though there never was an 'updated' version. It was by far the most epic of them all! There was a whole game in just the Shapeir side, and then you got to do Raseir as well! (Also, if you hadn't seen, there now is a VGA release of QFG2, can find it here: AGD Interactive, tis a free release, done with the blessing of the Cole's. :)

QFG3 probably would have been my second favourite, mostly because QFG4 was soooo buggy. Each game had their bugs, QFG3 as well, but QFG4 took that to all new highs. :P

Anywho, me sorry too! Think I'm done now. :P

It's posted, though I think I'm most likely alone in this.

I like the article! Thanks for sharing. I'll be sure to put up a link back to this topic now that I'm not the only one with a post.

I get nostalgic for my old BBS text games, too. Every once in a while I'll try and find an internet based bbs that runs Tradewars. It's not as fun when there's noone on, but it still brings back the memories. :)

Oh look, it's a 5 deep! Set up a bunch of fighters and get a planet made at the end quick!

Wow, that took me back. If you had popped of with planet types I think I might have lost all control. LOL. Glad to see some people tok up the topic. I'm not wildly impressed with my own article. Seems I have good and bad days as a writer still.

What an amazing shared topic!

So I put the question to my readers and bare all myself here:

I had no idea until I wrote it that my love affair went back so far!
