I was curious if this was legal and if it is how can this be down to export sound from WOW to your podcast i hear it every so often in The Instance and the dwarves in every show of BRK.

Podcasts are downloaded and listened to for free. The very nature of these free Fan-made WoW-based Podcasts serve to further advertise and market Blizzard's Product, World of Warcraft.

Think of it like this, you are using sounds for a podcast much like a blogger would use an image or screenshot from the game in editorials. As a courtesy, I would give credit where it is due. Images are easier to clearly see who they belong to, sounds need (and probably should have) credit mentioned somewhere in the podcast's show notes.

As for recording sounds from the game... you can use a video capture software such as Fraps to record the moment while in game. Sound recording software such as Adobe Audition ( http://www.adobe.com/products/audition/) have an "Import Audio from Video" function. For Audacity (http://audacity.sourceforge.net/ ) you may need to do a search for importing audio from video.

Completely agree with Stardancer. We have a blurb on our web page about Blizzard owning the copyright on everything we use that they own the copyright of.

I would be careful not to use the audio, just like you should be careful with images, in a way that blizzard might find damaging in any way. They do have the right to tell you to remove all of their property from your podcast, however, they are unlikely to do so if you use it properly.

That is a good point, Fimlys. Be respectful of Blizzard's "property." Quoting from one of my friends, "we are playing in Blizzard's sandbox, but ultimately it is Blizzard's sand."
