What do you guys think of this as a free service to offer to the WoW community?

Waranvil was originally set up to just offer this. But we soon realised we could also run a blog to. We love WoW and love to talk about it, so it made sense.

Its starting to look like the blog might actually be taking up all the time we have to give to the site, leaving the TS severs in the background. See we want to give groups of players free channels in our servers, passworded of course, to allow them to get on with it. This would reduce the amount of server admin needed. Although I fear the sheer amount of admin required to run the service might end up being to much if it really takes off.

The server could also be used to host WoW live debates and all kinds of things, so as a tool to work together with the blog it does have some rather unique and great options. Oh, it could also host blog based channels!

What do you guys think any ways? During my travels around blogs in particular I've never seen this service offered.

While my guild chooses to use the in-game voice chat, most guilds seem to have went down the Ventrillo path. Having never used it I can't say why it seems to be more popular than TeamSpeak.

What you're offering sounds like a great service, but I'm not sure how much interest you will get since most guilds looking for a free option will most likely stick with the in game voice chat. Don't let me discourage you though. Your idea is a good one and I hope you can make it work out.

There are a few benifits over using the in-game system.

1) Quality, we use high quality codex's in private channels. This means better voice transmit quality!

2) No need to be logged into WoW. Goes without saying, you can fire up the teamspeak app and get chatting without loading the game up.

As for Ventrilo, i can honestly say there is little difference between the two applications. The main issue is Ventrilo costs a hell of alot more. If anything i'd say the majority of Vent servers i've used over the years have had far lower quality than our TeamSpeak servers. The voice's just sound 'flat' on Vent and lacking quality.
