If your server is anything like mine, things are bit flat at the moment and it's only going to get worse. Summer holidays, other games, burnout, apathy, and alts are all going to compete for your raiders' attentions as we grind our way towards the expansion. Some guilds on my server have already gone into meltdown and others (mine included) are stuggling to hold things together. So I thought I would throw out this plea to you wise and venerable bloggers.

If you are facing similar issues, what are you doing about it? Were you here before, in the run-up to Burning Crusade? What happened? How did you cope with the disruption? Is it possible in this climate for raiding guilds to maintain any semblence of progression? What tips do you have for guilds struggling to hold things together?

Basically, you just kind of have to weather the storm. You have to live with the fact that raids will not fill, and groups will be harder to form. I think this is a good time to focus on OTHER aspects of the game that have been on the back burner. Leveling alts, PvP, helping newbs, etc. WoW will weather this storm, and in the future a lot of the people that left or what not will be back. It happened before BC, but once BC hit they came flooding back.

Seems a lot more quiet than when TBC hit, at least on my server(s). Back then, the shock of having to replace our entire gear was huge, now it's something we've lived through.

I agree it's a great time to level alts and see how other classes play Who knows, maybe even work on that "new wotlk main" you've been planning out.

I am with Tudi, it's a lot less dramatic than pre BC. Frustrating nonetheless. I am in a guild that's still trying to raid... we'll see how that goes I may just level 70 #4 if things go badly.

Well, in my guild we were running 2-3 Karas a week, now we're having trouble getting one off the ground.

It might also be because summer's starting, people go on vacation, have exams, etc.

hope things do work out for the better for us all. I was just hitting 55 on my first character the night TBC went live so I have never gone through the pre-expansion time before.

Not specifically related, but might be interesting, I left a guild recently partly because we weren't raiding.

I think maybe you could try and setup a raiding alliance on your server, there are many very successful ones in the US servers (though less so in the EU I believe) to get cross-guild raiding going, these are also pretty resistant to player drift and holidays due to the size and capability of the alliance.
