I'm looking to start a series of interviews of GMs, to help readers get a feel for managing a guild. If you're interested, or know someone who may be, please let me know.

Hi there, I would be happy to help you out.

We are (my fiancee, two rl friends (married) and me) are running a medium sized guild (40+ accounts) on Aman'Thul (EU).

We are just past Karazhan, and not yet really into Zul'Aman, if this is of any relevance. ;-)

The guild is Ravenous on the alliance side of the server.

I'm the guild leader of Sawed Off, a small guild that spun out of a 200-man EQ1 guild I ran up until Gates of Discord.

We do a lot of things different, because of how I ended up as the leader of the EQ1 guild, including having leadership elections. As a result, I am a complete guild policy theory wonk. (See the stickied post in the Thunderbrew Distillery forum on our board for an example.)

E-mail or in-game (Silver Hand US) would be best for me. E-mail would be easiest for me. I'm ringo at flinthammer dot org.

I was co-GM of a successful guild not too long ago. Let me know if you need more input. :)

I was the GM for a failed raiding school guild. If this perspective (and the reasons of failure) are of interest, PM me

I used to be the GM (and earlier a Co-GM) for a small leveling guild, which never got off to the point of raiding for several reasons. It might give you another PoV on managing guilds. Even such guilds need pruning and maintaining a good atmosphere.

You can mail me at lesserhealingwave<at>gmail<dot>com should you need another interview.

Auzara of Chick GM could probably give you a run for your money as far as interviews go. She was recently interviewed by Fim and Bre on Twisted Nether, and is GM of a Sunwell guild. Dunno if she'd have time/energy for an interview, but it couldn't hurt to ask 'er.

I used to be the GM of a raiding guild before I transfered to Malfurion. I lead the guild through Karazhan, Gruul's Lair and Magtheridon's Lair before stalling at the entrance to t5 content - we killed Void Reaver and Lurker before I burned out on GM'ing. It was a pretty slap-dash guild: we ran a modified /roll loot system, had little/no attendance requirements but expected people to want to raid and therefore kept the roster lean, and had a pretty quirky membership.

I haven't been in a leadership position since last September or so, but if you'd want an extra perspective, I could speak via e-mail or IM.

I'm certainly available if you would like. But the thread had been inactive for months when I saw it the first time, so I assumed the project was complete.

Gwaendar and others who tried to start up guild, I'm actually very interested in talking to you about your experiences. I'm writing a book about online leadership for new GMs and I'd love to hear about what your stumbling blocks were so I can be sure and try to address common issues. If you're willing to talk about it with the evil, disapproving GM (that's for Gwaendar), e-mail me at ChickGM at gmail.com.

I am currently the GM for my small guild (60+ accounts) on PvP Bleeding Hollow. While we do raid, I would classify us as a casual/social guild. We work very hard to provide a very friendly and relaxing environment and in that aspect, I think we are very successful.

If you are looking for that angle, I would be more than happy to help.

Huh. Didn't notice the date on the original post, just saw that the two previous posts to mine were same day.

Whoops!

This was posted way back in March, but I'd like to offer up my services if you're still interested. I am GM of a guild called Heroes of the Alliance. We're a family friendly guild, which involves a lot of on the site screening and keeping chat friendly, as well as having to handle the wide age range we have. At any one time we have about 140 members. Its a lot of fun though. You can reach me at davlinrocks@yahoo.com .
