Hi Everyone!

Foreword: I know Gameldar has already posted an idea for Noblegarden, and I don't want to step on his toes, but I had this idea this morning and wrote this post before I checked Twitter and saw that he was cooking up a storm I thought I'd post it anyway since I think it's possible to do both, and who doesn't like some extra fun around festival times

Noblegarden runs from April 4 to 10, and involves players hunting for Coloured Eggs through Azerothian cities and surrounding areas.

I thought maybe we could hold a Great Blogger Noblegarden Egg Hunt

Here's my idea for how it might work:

1. Submit your name and blog be included in the list.

2. Somewhere on your site, on or before Sunday, April 4, hide an egg. It could be in an image, a link to an in-game egg, some reference to an egg... basically be creative so it's not too easy for people to just google "egg" and find it, but obvious enough so that people looking for an egg will recognise it! There will be a lot of eggy posts around at that time as people post guides for Noblegarden achievements, so we'll have to try to not confuse it with those posts... any ideas welcome

3. On Sunday April 4, I'll post a list of the participants.

4. The first person to email me a list of all the exact locations of the eggs, wins... something (if anyone wants to donate an art commission or something else, let me know).

5. If no-one gets all of them by a cut-off date, the person with the most correct wins!

What do bloggers get out of it? People discovering your site, and reading your content.

What does the community get out of it? People who aren't bloggers can participate, discovering new blogs to read and making the blogosphere more connected. Also those who might not have the time or the ideas for the easter egg pop culture version, might prefer just to hunt for eggs.

If you have to step on my toes - please avoid my right foot - the little toe is already broken at present (for all future parents - Hop and Bobs are evil for bare feet!). That said you're not stepping on them - and I'll be in.



Maybe we can make the eggs link to something to say you've found an egg - so that they can at least confirm it? I assume Google won't really pick it up from that.

Lol! I'm sure you could hide an egg in an ingenious place Besides, I think Gameldar is onto something here with the link to a special "you found one" page.

Send me a nudge just before the signup date and I'll write something up for Twisted Nether like I did for the Admirer project. (If you don't remind me, I'll forget like I forgot for the Elder Event.)

Just an update, I am planning on doing this still, I'm just waiting until closer to the time. It's still over two weeks until Noblegarden after all.

At the moment I am looking for an artist who'd be willing to donate a commission as a prize... I'm no artist myself, and I'm a bit wary of offering to send material items (loot cards, etc) as prizes around the world. There are some hazy rules around that and arty commissions work a bit better. Plus, free publicity for your work

It doesn't have to be anything massive... the prize for the secret admirer event was an RSS icon for example.

If you want to have an amazingly fantastic 'You've found an egg' page... well I have it for you - ok it's not that amazingly fantastic - but it could be.

If you set your link for the egg to http://gameldar.fdns.net/egg.php then it'll go to that page and display a 'you've found an egg from: yourhostname'. If you want to see it in action you can go to http://gameldar.fdns.net/eggtest.html.

I'll probably pretty this up (or someone with some html/artistic skills wants to - please go ahead) and it might be good if the full list of blogs was on it as well - but at least it'll point back to the appropriate Revive & Rejuvenate post, but feel free to use it!

I'm sad I missed this! Maybe next time I will pay more attention to what is happening in the blogger community. Real life gets in the way too much

This was such a great idea last year that I thought it would be fun to do it again this year. Of course Angelya is busy with her adorable Sproutling, so I've talked to her and I'll be organizing The Great Blog Noblegarden Egg Hunt, Round Two, for this year!

Noblegarden itself doesn't start until April 24th this year, so expect to see some formal blog announcements about the GBNEH2 in a week or two after we've gotten some more of the details together. In general, it'll work about the same as last year, with participating bloggers hiding Easter Eggs somewhere on their sites, in posts no earlier than April 17th if not elsewhere on the site -- and bloggers who participated last year will need to hide another egg in a new place.

Yay! I'm glad to hear we'll be having another Egg Hunt this year! Thanks for putting it together.

When the time comes, I suggest you make a separate thread for this year's event so people don't get confused with last years.
