Ok, so we just went through some loot drama this week because someone thought they were passed over on a BOP pattern in SSC unfairly... while our decision was based on previous Loot Policy...

The idea, blog on about your specific Loot policy and/or philosophy. That's what my first post is about.

Ohhh, sorry to hear about the drama. - Some of it really makes me want to /headdesk.

I do want to give you a thank you for post on loot policies and systems used. - It couldn't have come at a better time!

My guild alliance is going to be looking into SSC and loot rules will be one thing that is going to be coming up. - I haven't heard of some of these in awhile, and honestly they slipped my mind entirely.

This will be a great reference to look at, thanks again.

Ehh. Elegy gives that whole loot thing a miss, we take a responsible role and give it to whoever needs it most.

i.e. upgrade over sidegrade.

We also don't let anybody into the higher-level raids that we're doing (SSC, ZA, Gruul's) until they've proven their worth by spending time with our Kara groups. That way, we don't get people who join, hit our SSC raid, get the one epic they want, and /gquit. They usually just /gquit out of frustration. >:)

I'm not sure what to think about Track.

On one hand, he's got some great ideas and opinions about blogging and hunter related stuff. He's even got a Bruce Campbell avatar over at the BRK forums.

On the other hand, he did roll Horde. And not just any Horde, but a big freakin' Tauren. AND...he uses a gun.

I'm so confused.

We use a modified EPGP system which awards effort points for killing bosses and gear points for getting loot. The value of gear points increases with better loot. You divide effort points by gear points to get a ratio that determines your rank in the pecking order. So basically, kill a lot of bosses and havent gotten loot in a while? Youre ratio is gonna be high, and youll be first on the list to receive an item. Offspec stuff gets handed out if no one else needs it for main spec, at 10% of its gear point cost. Theres an addon to track everything, and quite a few subtleties of the system that combat point hording and all sorts of other things nasty to DKP systems. Its better than loot council for us cuz you can always defer to the system to avoid any issues of unfairness or accusations of subjectivity.
