Hi all, Megs here.
A little while back I was pondering on what it would be like if bloggers from the WoW circuit would get together and try to kill each other.
Huh? Ok, lemme explain..
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mafia_Game
Short version, Mafia is a pretty standard "online community" game that makes its way around forums. In a nutshell, a bunch of people trying to figure out who the Mafia are through discussion and clues, while the Mafia try and kill people off slowly without getting found out.
I thought it might be an interesting experiment to adapt for our blogging purposes and wanted some feedback + general thoughts on the subject. At the time of my preliminary thinking, I was realizing what a pain it would be to organize such a thing.. and then Phae hit me with the whammy that is Blog Azeroth, a possibilty indeed (thx Phae).
So some main points:
1) Is there even "time" for something like this? We all (reasonably) play WoW. We also blog about WoW. We also have RL stuff namely family and work. For some that is alot on the plate already.
2) Blog Azeroth is fresh off the press, and chances are I don't "know" more than a handful of people registered. An activity as such could increase a sense of community in addition to the usual reading of each other's blogs, commenting, ingame contact, etc.. And as an avid PVP'er, I don't see a better way to get to know people than by trying to kill them (haha).
3) Fully adapted, a game for WoW bloggers would have WoW themes/rules. Also (in my head how I imagine it), it could very well be worked in so that the game takes place both on these forums and the participants' blogs as well.
