Okay I haven't a clue what I'm doing beyond adding posts to my page. But I would like to do a few things and I just can't seem to figure out how to do it. I know what I want. I can see it on other's pages. But I just can't seem to get it.

So here are my very noob'ish questions. Please help me. I need it.

1.) How do I shorten my blog list? I was importing the links to the blogs for the World Tree and it's got the links to the all the blogs linked on my right hand side of my page. I'd like to shorten it a bit and link to a page with the rest of them on it. Is this possible? If so how?

2.) I would also like to put up the link/image to the World Tree idea from Resto4life's page. I see the code to copy/paste but where? (Did I mention how much of a noob I am at all this?) And how do I get it oriented to the column on my page?

3.) I would like to put up a spot for my armory pages but how? All it keeps doing is throwing any links I try and experiment with into the Pages Category. I'd really like this to be a separate little box by itself. Again I don't know how to do this.

Any help would really be appreicated. I hate how my site looks right now and want to make it better.

Hey Nimhbus! I'm glad you are taking advantage of the World Tree OPML download. Hopefully I can point you in the right direction to let you accomplish the things you're describing!

  1. Shortened blog list with separate page for all the links you have
You can find a tutorial on how to do this here, though However, I suspect you may be out of luck since blogs probably don't allow you to output PHP to pages (self-hosted blogs have to install a plugin to do this).
  2. Placement of World Tree linkage
I'm not sure how your blog is set up. Does it use widgets? If not, you should just be able to edit your sidebar by going to Presentation > Edit Site Theme and looking for a file named "Sidebar."
  3. This is along the same lines as #2 and depends whether you are using a widget-enabled template (I don't use a Widget template so I'm unfortunately not as familiar with how they work; hopefully someone else can chime in if that's the case). If you aren't, you'll edit the same area you've edited in #2.

Healing with a positive carbon footprint.

Here's some added info on widgets for questions 2 & 3:

About text widgets: ... xt-widget/

Link from support on adding links:

If you want to spruce up the sidebar link with an image or make the image the link you can use a image hosting site to link to your image remotely if that is a better solution. Especially if you are short on bandwidth and upload space.

If you have an uploaded image, here's a link for how to add that to the sidebar. ... r-sidebar/

If you want it in your sidebar as a link, you can create a new text widget via Dashboard>presentation>widgets then make new text widget and add the link for your profile. You can also create a text link for your armory page.

Text Widgets are nice tools to pop in snips of code for your sidebar it's also more user friendly if something is goofs than editing your sidebar.php if you can do that.

Hope this is an additional help to you - good luck!

The easiest way to put your "blogroll" on a separate page is as follows:

1) Go to "write"

2) Go to "write page"

3) Choose the template "links"

4) Click Publish
