I changed my theme today- can you guys check it out and let me know if you like it?
I would like to add a picture of my main at the top R corner, but I have no idea how to.
Any ideas or comments appreciated-

Thanks for asking, all I know is that your Blog Name and Description was overpowered by the colorful background image. I guess just try to edit the color of the font and text of your Blog Name and Description on top. other than that, looks great for me. =)

You'll have limited options with wordpress.com depending on your theme. You might see if you can do a custom header that would allow you to make your header a bit more visible.

If the theme allows for a custom background, you could manage to do some editing to the background, but you'd have to do the work yourself in Photoshop/GIMP/Paint.net.

If you could provide more information on your theme and exactly what you're trying to do, I'd be happy to help

There is an option to replace the existing header with one on my computer around 940x? size. Otherwise I would have to change the background to solid color, which I am trying to get away from.
If I had someone make a custom header, I would just want what is currently written there on a color that goes with the mosaic colors as well as a little head-shot of Chatmay.

I understand what you are trying to do. Do you have access to your .css files?

What you could do: put in a solid, transparent background in the header, perhaps a white color at something like 50%. The background in your main body will still show up, and you probably will see your header's text better with the back ground toned down a bit. You can do this by making a small .png in photoshop, make the layer white and tweak the opacity to a lower percentage- *important to save it in .png! . Then, upload that and go to your .css file, and look for the #header rule if there is one. If there is none, you could type:

#header {
background-color:transparent !important;
background-image:url( insert file url );
background-repeat: repeat;
}

I make heavy use of this technique on my site. It's one of my favorite things to put in different designs! Visit my site to get a better idea of what I'm talking about, my article headers use it as well as the menu in my main header. You could also even do gradients, which I can also help with

Well apparently I found out that if I change my header, it changes the whole theme to blah, boring. So I have an email in to the theme creator to see if I can do this picture thing or not.
I changed my header font ($30!) to a darker, thicker one to see if it helps.

That's odd. Usually the header and background are separate critters.

Yeah, that is weird.

The other suggestion I can think of that you could try:

Make the upper half of the background lighter, if you want to use dark text in the header. Or, make the upper half darker, if you want to use white text. This will have to be done in a graphic editor, usually can achieve this using gradients for the fade effect going from the top to below. This way, you wouldn't have to do anything with the header itself, you would just have to edit the background for the body.

OK I ended up dumping this theme tonight- and changed to Chateau.
I FINALLY have a WOW picture on my header! Not the best shot ever made, but it will do for now.

I had a certain theme that I really enjoyed, but ended up changing it a while back because I couldn't do a custom header. I love being able to have my own picture up top, it makes the blog a lot more personal.

I think this one is great and has a LOT of personality

Same here, I always like dark background so whatever I post up like pictures etc. It is more visible. but dont get me wrong lighter background is good too, but you have to balance and know what text fonts, colors so that its easy in the eyes to read and represents your personality and as a player as well. =)
